Intermediate students, aged 12 to 14, embarked on a hands-on project to construct outdoor furniture. One group dedicated their efforts to mastering the construction of various arch styles, setting a challenging criterion for their work: the arches must be sturdy enough to support the weight of a person (as illustrated in the top row, left and middle images). Meanwhile, another group took on the task of designing and building a bench swing. Their challenge was to independently find a suitable pattern (shown in the top row, right, and bottom row images) and to construct the bench with minimal assistance, demonstrating a significant level of autonomy in their work. Both groups skillfully utilized an array of power tools to bring their creative visions to life, showcasing their developing expertise in woodworking and design.
