Early High School students explored the handbuilding technique of slab building in ceramics class. They mastered the art of rolling and slapping clay to form smooth, flat slabs, which they then cut and shaped into cylinders to make cups. Some students took their creations a step further by turning their clay pieces into candle containers. They selected glazes with exploding crystals to add an eye-catching texture to their candle jars, which they filled with their own candles.
Following their creative endeavors, a social media expert was invited to guide the students on effective social media strategies for marketing their products on Instagram. The expert shared insights on smart posting tactics and photography techniques to make their products stand out. Armed with this new knowledge, the students set up Instagram accounts specifically for their creations, showcasing their candle jars and other items. They also included purchasing forms, making it easy for a wider community to view and buy their unique, student-made products.
